Concerts

Annual Christmas concert

The Wallasey Music Centre holds a Christmas concert every year on the last day of term before the Christmas holiday.

Christmas is always a busy time, so why not reserve an hour or two to take a break from the Christmas shopping rush and come along for some peace and relaxation, to listen to over 100 Wallasey students playing a wide range of music. There will also be an opportunity to sing along to some favourite carols, giving you a moment to reflect upon the meaning of Christmas.

This concert starts at 11.00 a.m. and usually ends shortly after 12.00 noon.

Annual Charity Concert

Around the time of Easter every year, W.M.C. produces a charity concert in the magnificent setting of Wallasey's Civic Hall.

The students play a varied repertoire which has included in the past, arrangements of music by some of the students and even their own compositions.

Why not witness the energy and enthusiasm of some of Wallasey's finest young people, making good music for your enjoyment and at the same time raising money for local charities.

This concert starts at 7.30 p.m. ending around 9.00 p.m.

Summer Showcase

Each season of music making is rounded off with our Showcase concert, once again at the Oldershaw school. As this is also the last concert of the school's academic year, it can be a sad time as we say farewell to students or teachers who are moving on to pastures new.

'Quids for Kids'

Every two years the Wirral Schools' Music Service presents a major concert using the talent from all the music centres and senior ensembles. The Wallasey Music Centre contributes to this by sending either the Senior Wind Band or the Orchestra to play there.

To give as many students as possible the thrill of playing in such a magnificent concert, these groups are augmented by other musicians from the Centre who would like to play there.

In 2009, the concert was held in the very new Floral Pavilion Theatre, and we hope to return there in 2011.
